The Attendant Vital Signs Monitor 3 (AVSM3) includes built-in power management features designed to extend battery life and ensure reliable performance during use. This article explains Sleep Mode, how to properly charge and care for your device’s battery, and what to do when the Low Battery alert appears.
Adjusting Sleep Mode and Brightness
Battery performance gradually decreases over time based on usage.
- Charging time: up to 12 hours when powered off, depending on how low the power is when charging starts.
- Battery warranty : 6-month manufacturer warranty
Low Battery Alerts
When the monitor’s battery is low, a “LOW BATTERY” alert will appear on the screen.
- Avoid taking vital readings when the device shows a Low Battery alert. Low power may result in inaccurate readings or device shutdown mid-measurement.
- Plug in and charge the device immediately when this alert appears.
Sleep Mode
Sleep Mode automatically turns off the monitor’s display when there is no user input for a set period of time. This helps preserve battery life during periods of inactivity.
Sleep Mode options: 5, 10, 20, or 30 minutes
The screen will automatically turn back on when:
- The user interacts with the touchscreen, or
- An alarm or alert occurs
You can adjust the Sleep Mode timer in the device’s Settings menu.
(Refer to pages 46–47 of the AVSM3 User Manual for detailed instructions.)
Brightness
One of the key factors influencing how long the battery lasts during use is the screen brightness setting. Higher brightness levels increase the power draw of the LCD touchscreen. This means the monitor consumes more energy, leading to faster battery drain.
For optimal battery performance, use the lowest brightness setting that still provides clear visibility for staff.
To adjust:
- Find the “Brightness” setting.
- Use the arrows or knob to adjust the level (from 1 to 5).
- Press the checkmark or “OK” to confirm the setting.
- Exit the menu to return to the home screen.
Adjusting Sleep Mode and Brightness
- Exit Kiosk mode.
- Press the Gear Icon (Settings) on the home screen.
- Scroll to and select the Display menu.
Tips to Extend Battery Life
To maximize battery performance and lifespan:
- Charge fully before first use.
- Avoid continuous charging when the device is already full.
- Power off the unit when not in use for extended periods.
- Keep the monitor and charger in a cool, dry environment.
- Use only the approved charger provided with the unit.
- Avoid deep discharges (letting the battery drain completely before recharging).
